Virginia Hoffman's Sarasota Studio

Sarasota, Florida, artist Virginia Hoffman is different from your typical artist; she works in several mediums, each in its distinctive style. She designs and fabricates unique sculptural installations for the public environment and applied arts for private, public, and corporate clients. Virginia offers a broad approach to her craft, considering the environment and purpose of her art. She has been working as a professional artist for over forty years; owns and maintains an active working studio in Sarasota, Florida’s downtown area.

An established arts community member, she has professional relationships with numerous local fabricators and material supply resources. These relationships enable her to fabricate high-quality commissioned work for residential, commercial, liturgical, and public projects.

Her involvement with public art can be traced back to 1991 when she advised on the mandatory and subjective criteria for the City of Sarasota’s public art program. Later, serving on the art advisory board for eight years and then as Public Art Coordinator for the City for two years. She provided input for many public art projects and organized “Intersections,” a public art sculpture exhibition installed throughout the downtown districts.

It is optional to commission Virginia for a site-specific sculpture designed to be compatible with your architectural environment. Or contract for public art design services, commission management, including project development, site analysis, search for artists, and project management, assisting Developers in meeting the City’s Public Art requirement.

Her broad skill set includes sculpture, drawing, photography, sculptural furniture, stained glass, etched glass, sculptural lighting, encaustic painting, printmaking, and custom art piece solutions to interior or architectural design problems.
